E tū Hiwa-i-te-rangi, Ko ngā manako nui
Behold Hiwa-i-te-rangi, Of the many desire
Entries are open for this year’s Matariki exhibition and this year’s theme celebrates Hiwa-i-te-rangi – the Māori wishing star.
Symbolising growth and prosperity, this female star encourages individuals and communities to pursue their aspirations, nurture their potential, and work toward a prosperous future. Māori traditionally would use Hiwa-i-te-rangi to set their desires and dreams for the year, commonly known now as New Year’s resolutions. What are your hopes and goals for the year ahead?
Entries are open to all ages so visit The Arts Hub - Te Anau to pick up an entry form – artwork submissions close 20th June with your completed paperwork required the week before!
Categories are pre-school, primary, young adult and adult.
Prizes will be awarded for each category and a ‘people’s choice’.
Theme: Hiwa-i-te-rangi
